| Novalja - island of Pag |
Novalja is the tourist centre of the island of Pag, the destination of many tourists. It is perfectly located on the roads from the Kvarner towards the Dalmatia. Famous beaches: Zrce, Caska, Straško, Babe, Trincel and Branicevica, are located in close vicinity. They are suitable for water sports and any kind of recreation. Three early Christian basilicas from the 4th century (the remains are visible inside the church of the Mother of God in the town centre) and a subterranean aqueduct from the 1st century, are the most prominent historical monuments. The aqueduct called Talijanova buža (Italian's hole), is completely dug in bedrock and is 1.042 m long and 60 cm wide with nine apertures. Today it is a tourist attraction that can be visited (only 150 meters) in Zvonimir Street (in front of the city government building). The most valuable piece of the cultural wealth is the folk dance in lively folk costumes.
